Any admirer of Robert Farrar Capon is a friend of mine. I had the good fortune to hear him speak brilliantly and hilariously before thousands in favor of women’s ordination to the priesthood at the Episcopal Church General Convention in Louisville in 1973. (He enthralled everyone.) Later, I studied dogmatic theology with him at Mercer Seminary. He was spellbinding and turned that dry topic into gourmet food for the soul. His novel was quite autobiographical.
